An experiment into using a flatbed scanner with its glass (platen) removed as a short-ranged camera. The scanner 'read' the object with a linear array and a flashing green neon light. The images were taken with scan resolutions ranging from 100 - 1200 dpi, and took between 12 seconds and 1 minute to complete. In order to distort the object and make a flat '3D' map, I moved the object in time with the sensor's trajectory down the length of the scanner
